It’s no news that on the 15th day of August yearly, Sons and Daughters of Mbaise Nation, including their well wishers and friends troops out in mass to celebrate their annual IRI JI (NEW YAM FESTIVAL). As culture demands, it beholds all true Sons and Daughters of Mbaise to gather in one accord to thank God for a fruitful harvest for the farming season.

Been a worthy Son of Mbaise and the Pride of his people, the ex Governor of Imo State,
His Excellency, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha CON, (Omenkeahuruanya) has over the decades, championed and promoted this rich cultural heritage to its zenith which has attracted so many prominent figures in the country and beyond to witness this annual event of the Mbaise nation.

This year’s festival, which took place at the Country home of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha in Mbutu Mbaise; had in attendance, the leadership of Ezuruezu Mbaise, the Ezeji’s, Mbaise Traditional Rulers Council, the Clergy and indeed people from all works of life who came to celebrate with His Excellency and the Mbaise Nation.

Past and Serving Members of the National Assembly, past and Serving Members of the State Assembly, the State Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party Imo State and Members of the Rebuild Imo Family were not left out as they came in their numbers to celebrate with their leader. Various Dignitaries, Groups and
LGA Chapters of PDP presented cows among other gifts as a show of love to His Excellency, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

Highlight of the event was the cutting of the New Yam by Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, CON (Omenkeahuruanya)
