To boost spirituality in Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved the sponsorship of a record 1,000 pilgrims to Israel and Jordan this year. The Human Rights Writers Association has asked the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, to step down from the state’s governorship race, over the killing of five policemen and a couple by unknown gunmen on Friday. It was reported that some unidentified gunmen had, on Friday morning, opened fire on five policemen, who were eating at a local restaurant, at the Okpala Junction, in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state. The gunmen also killed a couple identified as Mr and Mrs Chinaka Nwagu, who owned a shop beside the scene of the crime.

The Imo State Elders’ Council has endorsed Sen Hope Uzodinma’s second term ambition for Governor of the state. The elders also adopted a Charter of Equity for the rotation of key political offices among the three senatorial zones which includes the position of the governor, deputy governor and speaker of house of assembly.
