The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Mrs Nnenna N. Oti, on Friday, 2nd September 2022 paid a courtesy call on the new Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde in his office situated in Owerri.

Speaking during the visit, the VC commended the Commissioner of Police (CP) on the concerted efforts with other security agencies in managing security challenges in the State.

She singled out the protracted and unrelenting encroachment on FUTO Land as a major security challenge and solicited the assistance of the Police Boss in warding off the land speculators and their agents.

In his response, CP Barde congratulated Prof. Oti on her landmark achievement as the First Female VC in South East, Nigeria.

He assured the VC of the resolve of the Police Command under his watch to tackle the recurring issue of annexation of FUTO land with renewed passion, stating that as Federal Government property, it was incumbent on the Police to protect the FUTO and all her belongings.

The visit was witnessed by the full complement of Management team of both FUTO and Imo State police Command.
