AMVCA nominations gratifying— ‘Shanty Town’ co-producer, Nworah

Posted on April 18, 2023 By thTV Admin, Owerri No Comments on AMVCA nominations gratifying— ‘Shanty Town’ co-producer, Nworah

Chichi Nworah, a co-producer of the popular movie series, ‘Shanty Town’, has described the 10 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards nominations secured by the crime thriller as a great reward for the hard work and financial investment that went into producing it.

The categories the series got nominated for are Best Actor in a Drama (Movies/TV Series)— Chidi Mokeme; Best Actress in a Drama (Movie/TV Series) —Ini Edo; Best Art Director (Movie/TV Series) — Olalekan Isiaka; Best Costume Designer (Movie/TV Series) — Bunmi Fashina, Tiannah Empire, Secrets of April; Best Lighting Designer (Movie/TV Series) — Walter Odhiambo; Best Soundtrack (Movie/TV Series) — Jaysynths and Hotkid; Best Make-up (Movie/TV Series) —Maryam Ndukwe, Hakeem Effects Onilogbo; Best Cinematographer (Movie/TV Series)— Jonathan Kovel; Best Sound Editor (Movie/TV Series)— Kolade Morakinyo.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Nworah said, “Recognition for one’s creative work comes with a great feeling. It feels good that the project bagged 10 nominations. This shows the depth of work, sleepless nights, talents, creativity, and other resources put together to produce the masterpiece.

“The series is part of my journey to tell a local story with global artistry. With the project, I tried to create a departure from the norm.

“And, we are happy with the results coming out. Creating such a project took a lot of money, and it stretched me and my co-executives, but seeing the positive global acceptance turned that stretch into joy.”

She also stated that she would be starting principal photography for yet another project next month.

Recall that ‘Shanty Town’ was released on the video streaming platform, Netflix, in January to wide acclaim.

The Netflix original series was produced by Nworah, and directed by Dimeji Ajibola, with acting by Ini Edo, Chidi Mokeme, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Mercy Eke, Nancy Isime, Zubby Michael, Uche Jombo, RMD, and Peter Okoye of P-Square.

Prior to ‘Shanty Town’, Nworah had also produced films such as ‘Hot Girl Next Door’, and ‘Betty’s Love Triangle’.

The AMVCAs, which is unarguably one of the biggest events in the entertainment industry will hold on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
