Sudan: Second batch of Nigerians evacuees arrives Port Sudan

Posted on May 2, 2023 By thTV Admin, Owerri No Comments on Sudan: Second batch of Nigerians evacuees arrives Port Sudan

The second batch of stranded Nigerians evacuated from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, arrived Port Sudan on Tuesday, our correspondent gathered.

Nine students from the second batch arrived Port Sudan on Monday night as they were moved into a different vehicle after their bus caught fire.

The PUNCH reports that one of the buses conveying stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, Sudan, to Port Sudan caught fire in the early hours of Monday.
The 26 buses conveying the stranded Nigerians left Al Razi around 12am on Monday for Port Sudan where they would move into Saudi Arabia.

One of the buses broke down due to excessive heat. While 50 students were being conveyed in the bus, no one was injured or died during the incident.

The Chairman, Nigerians Elders’ Forum in Sudan, Hashim Na’Allah, while giving an update, said, “Nine of us here are in Port Sudan with other students who came from Algazira state. We are almost 50 Nigerians inside a mosque where we were hosted since yesterday. The sisters were taken to another mosque.

“The remaining students, footballers and other businessmen are on their way as I was informed 30 minutes ago by a friend in the group.”

He added that they are almost entering Port Sudan.
