The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) Projects Development Objectives is targeted to restore one million hectares of degraded land through massive afforestation activities in the country.
This was disclosed by the Bauchi Project Coordinator Dr Ibrahim Kabir MNES, FSEPH, FIICA MISPON (Maga Yakin Cheledi) during a meeting with members of staff of State Project Monitoring Unit (SPMU) earlier today.
The project Coordinator also disclosed that the World Bank also approved the state’s work plan for one year and it’s procurement plan respectively.
To achieve the target objectives, the PC stated that, all hands must be on deck in order towards restoring the one million hectares of land within the next six (6) years and encouraged the officers to be up and doing to ensure that the Project Development Objectives were achieved.
Dr Kabir explained that all projects must be done at the stipulated time as captured in the STEP to avoid being tagged as a failed activity, which he said, will attract penalty on the SPMU.
The PC also explained that, some of the projects are performance based that will attracts rewards to the benefitting communities and call for supports from the general public through out the implementation period of the project in the state.
On the issue collaboration and synergy among the staff, the PC urged them to work as a team which he said is paramount towards achieving the desired objectives.
ACReSAL Project is a six( 6)-years strategic project prioritizing actions within four components of Dryland Management, Community Climate Resilience. Institutional Strengthening, Project Management, and Contingent Emergency Response
It will also improve the capacity of the country to adapt to a changing climate, largely through enhancing multi-sectoral convergence (across environment, agriculture and water) and technology modernization, including improved use of data, analytics, and connectivity in the Nineteen Northern States of the country and the FCT.
