Kesandu Kenkwo Berates Imo Govt Over Belated Interest In Tourism

Kesandu Kenkwo Berates Imo Govt Over Belated Interest In Tourism

Posted on May 12, 2023 By thTV Admin, Owerri No Comments on Kesandu Kenkwo Berates Imo Govt Over Belated Interest In Tourism

– Says, More Geared Towards Getting Money

A human rights activist and young Progressive Party YPP Federal House of Representatives candidate for Okigwe South Federal constituency of Imo State, Comrade Kesandu Kenkwo Kingsley popularly called ‘’KKK’’, has berated the Imo State government for what he described as its deceitful, diversionary and belated money-induced interest in the Tourism sector.

Kesandu, in a post on his social media platform noted that the self acclaimed 3R government is only paying lip service to Tourism with a view to collecting money from the stake holders without commensurate interest or commitment towards developing or reenergizing the sector.

The post reads thus, ‘’ Few days ago, I carefully listened to the Hon. Commissioner for Tourism, the Permanent Secretary and another top official of the ministry, on HotFm morning programme, the People’s Assembly, where they discussed the state of tourism in Imo State.

“Primarily, their main focus was on the issue of Hotels and fast-food joints in Imo and their recent inspection cum evaluation program.

This is not bad at all but does not constitute up to 25% of the tourism sector in the state.

“Smartly, they tried to touch around other tourists sites in Imo by just mentioning the ones they know without much emphasis. Frankly, it was indeed laughable.

“The Commissioner tried talking about Abadaba Lake in my LGA, Ihitte/Uboma, but I can tell you that the gentleman does not know the way to the lake. I challenge him.

“He went ahead to say that the lake was captured in the 2023 budget. This is a government that might not be reelected in Nov 11, 2023. The questions are; what exactly do you intend doing there? When was the last time a government official saw the lake? Can government do this with its own fund? Trust me, there are hundreds of questions concerning the state of the lake.

“When you come to Ihitte/Uboma, there are certain wonderful tourist sites such as the Oturugo river etc. Is he even aware of the aforementioned?

“Who can speak on the current state of our own Nekede zoo? This is heartbreaking.

“Hon. Commissioner, we know your interest, which is that of the government you serve, is all about the money the hotels and fast-food joints will pay you. QED.

“My anger is you coming on air to hoodwink or try to play on our intelligence as a people, even when res ipsa loquitur.

“From the land of the spirits, I wonder how ‘Nna m ocho’ Dee Sam Onunaka Mbakwe, will be looking at successive governments and how they have destroyed all he laboured for as Governor.

“Since the State Government doesn’t want to show responsibility, I feel we can call on the attention of the Federal Government to see how we can salvage the environment.

“MAY THE EFFORTS OF DEE SAM MBAKWE NEVER BE IN VAIN, AMEN’’.
