President Muhammadu Buhari Conducts Final Cabinet Meeting in Abuja

Posted on May 24, 2023June 21, 2023 By thTV Admin, Owerri No Comments on President Muhammadu Buhari Conducts Final Cabinet Meeting in Abuja

In the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The purpose of this meeting is to address remaining matters and finalize various documents, as well as review pending memoranda from Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies before the administration’s departure next Monday.

FEC meetings, particularly those held towards the end of the cabinet’s term, have been characterized by a flurry of activities, involving last-minute approvals and appointments, conducted behind closed doors in the Council Chamber.

Preceding the valedictory session, cabinet members engaged in light-hearted banter. Earlier today, President Buhari administered the swearing-in ceremony for seven Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Fiscal, and Allocation Commission (RMFC). These commissioners, hailing from Imo, Enugu, Oyo, Kebbi, Jigawa, Kwara, and the FCT, were sworn in before the ongoing valedictory session.

Prior to the current closed-door session, the Council received significant highlights from the Health Reform Committee’s report, led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. This committee was established to develop a roadmap for achieving Universal Health Coverage in the country. Notably, one of the recommendations is to increase funding for the health sector to exceed 10 percent.
