The leadership of Oguta Local Government Area is taking bold steps to protect public land and ensure it serves the people. On Monday, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, Executive Chairman of Oguta LGA, joined forces with the Oguta Land Recovery Committee—led by Hon. Sir Modestus Chinedu Nwamkpa (Special Adviser to the Governor on Print/Media)—to kick off a major land recovery operation at the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout.
This area, originally mapped out by the Imo State Housing Corporation in Owerri, was designed to provide over 500 plots for organized public development. But over the years, much of this land has reportedly been taken over or sold off illegally by unknown individuals, leaving the community at a loss.
The move comes on the heels of a directive from Imo State Governor, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, who has instructed all 27 LGA Chairmen to reclaim government lands that have been unlawfully occupied. This is part of the Governor’s 3R agenda—Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery—focused on restoring order, transparency, and proper land use across Imo State.
The Land Recovery Committee is urging all Oguta residents and property owners in the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout to reach out to the Committee or the Office of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, as soon as possible. This is a chance to clarify property status before enforcement and possible demolition activities begin.
This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to due process and the protection of public assets for everyone’s benefit.
